Aboriginal activist, Lois O'Donohue, Jessie and myself at the ceremony luncheon.
On February 17th, Jessie's 19th birthday, 2004, we were invited to the presitigious Merit award ceremony for students who had achieved perfect scores in one or more subjects in their Year 12 studies the previous year.
It was one of those boiling hot 40 degree celsius days, but in the Government House grounds it was shaded and reasonably pleasant, all things considered.
It was a privelege to be able to wander around the grounds at will, after wondering for a lifetime what lay beyond those high stone walls on North Terrace.
The Governor of South Australia, Marjorie Jackson-Nelson presented the awards.
