Rick is going back to hospital today to have a double and possibly a triple heart bypass tomorrow, depending on the state of his left artery.
We decided to purchase a lotto ticket - not our usual habit - because we were feeling lucky today!
Whilst there are small risks involved with the surgery, the average person recovers very quickly and satisfactorily to live a more comfortable lifestyle by all accounts.
Nevertheless, it is still all very daunting.
The oncologist hopes that the delay in hormone treatment won't meant that the cancer spreads any further, but the heart is the first priority at the moment, so that treatment can be started a week after surgery. Rick will be taking 3 months sick leave initially - it can easily be extended if need be. Not a good way to start the year, but that's life.
I'll try to keep you all updated as often as possible.
