Amazingly, this dampness in the passage wall, which abuts the shower, has been undetectable to the nose! Mind you, we have been able to feel the water in the wall and it has all but destroyed my two cross- stitch birth samplers I made Jessie and Kerran - both went mouldy before we realised the dampness had extended so far up the wall.
